Greetings from the Elders’ Kitchen at the Sunray Peace Village.
For the past twenty-six years the Sunray community has hosted the Native American Elders Gathering in Lincoln, VT. The Elders’ Gathering is a rare and precious opportunity to connect with the wisdom of indigenous cultures from many nations such as Abenaki, Cherokee, Mohawk, Penobscot, Mayan, and Algonquin. The Twenty seventh Elders’ Gathering will take place on July 29-August 3 at the Sunray Peace Village in Lincoln, VT. With the good blessings and support of heart and hearth, they will share their wisdom with the people through music, dance, story, workshops, and discussion.
Our kitchen supports the Elders, their families, caregivers, and our volunteer staff for a period of eight days, during which time the food is carefully and lovingly prepared and shared. No food donations are sold, making the generosity of our donors essential to producing a successful Gathering. We are asking you for your support through a donation of fresh food or a monetary donation which we will use to support the kitchen.
All gifts are tax deductible, and we will gladly furnish a tax receipt for your contributions. In reciprocity, we offer a program for our donors where your gifts can accumulate credit over the years towards passes to the Gathering. Each $300 in donation will entitle you to a weekend pass or three day passes to the Elders’ Gathering which may be used at your discretion.
Please make a donation on the website here, and write "Elders Kitchen" in the purpose line.
As the Elders’ remind us, our generosity will return to us many times over. Thank you for your kind consideration. If you would like to contact me, I can be reached by email at artobey@gmavt.net.
Sincerely,
Andrew Tobey, Kitchen Coordinator
