Continuing, we come to a graceful opening and flower garden. We see the Ceremonial Arbor beyond the garden. The Arbor is a circular frame of cedar poles surrounding a large open area. Each year before the Elder’s Gathering, the community gathers together to prepare the Arbor for the Gathering. Prayerfully, we harvest pine boughs and lash them to the roof of the Arbor to provide shade for the Elder’s and people who come to hear them speak. Colorful banners and prayer ties created by the Crafts Gadugi adorn the Arbor.
There is a path that circles around the Arbor and we follow it to our left, always walking clockwise around the outside of the Arbor all the way to the opposite side to the Eastern Gate, before entering the Arbor.
